Anime North Preview
Soooo…. I’ve been sewing things, like usual. Anime North is on FRIDAY and I’m semi-ready. At this point, whatever has time to get done, will get done. I’m hoping to cram in another 5~6 nice plushies, but whatwith my summer class, figuring out my display, printing labels, packing all my stuff… I dunno.
I haven’t properly photographed things, so here’s just a small preview of the chibis I completed last week:
^^ I’ve actually given them all hair at this point…in fact, the chibis are complete. :) Oh, and a few days ago, I had the realisation that my hair is long enough to pull off the Katagiri look… I prepped a last-minute cosplay and will probably wear it on saturday during the con.
I don’t find I pull her off that well because she’s very slender and long-limbed. Also, personality-wise, I don’t really match up. But I love her, so I wanted to give her some representation at the con (though I’ll probably change out of it midway during to day when I get fed up).. I’m hoping that other people cosplay as her. ^_^
And on sunday, I’ll be dressing as Hiyori cuz my friend is going as Lisa, and we had these cosplay plans for like 2 years now…It’s about time we finally do it! I still gotta touch up the wig (gonna do that tonight)..but here’s a preview pic I took weeks ago.
Hiyori’s personality is going to be FUN to play as. :D I’m looking forward to the spitfire bitchiness and flipping off everyone who asks for a photo, lol.

These guys have been sitting around, waiting to be properly photographed…but I think I’m only going to set up the photoshoot when I complete ALL the Bleach chibis I’ve got planned. I’m really enjoying my lineup so far, and every time I look at the Seaweed Ambassador, I can’t stop smiling.
My posting schedule got backed up because I was really busy studying. My chem final was actually yesterday (9AM on a saturday, gross!)… It was really rough, and there was a lot of material that I studied that wasn’t even on the exam! What a waste. o_0 Anyways, my summer class (more chemistry) starts up on may 7th, so I don’t get much of a break. And I really gotta get crackin’ on Anime North con merch. Gah!

When you're open for commissions again, would you consider making a BBC Sherlock plush?

I’m not sure if I’d consider making him again. I tend to favour new projects over remakes since it’s more interesting that way…but it’s been a while since I last made him, so maybe. :)

OMG. Colour ref. I MUST PLUSHIFY THIS! (but gahhh, too many other projects on my plate roght now!) ;_; Isshin looks a lot like Mako from LoK though.. not sure how I feel about that one. XD

Serenity Studios ♥ Cosplay & Crafts: Artist Respect
I just thought I would re-post this from my FaceBook page;
While selling in the artist alley at Sakura-Con I noticed a lot of people making rude and disrespectful comments while browsing the tables, especially towards plush and textile artists.
When things aren’t in your price range, or if…
I’m so sorry to hear this. :( There are rude people at all cons, but your experience at Sakura-con sounds like the biggest gathering of douchebag attendees. I hope you at least told some of them off cuz if they’re being rude to your face, it’s perfectly fair to let them know. :\ Actually, I’ve even given sass to some people who’ve called my stuff a ‘rip-off’ when they were only within earshot (as in, not directly said to my face, but just a few feet away)… somehow, they seemed surprised that I would speak up to them. I think some people really do mistaken artisans for dealers, and they think the person sitting at the table is just a clerk paid minimum wage. But to the douches that insulted you directly, they’re absolutely unforgivable. o_0
